The new theme for the year is \"Eifach muetig - with Jesus as a role model...<\/em>\" As in 2024, it is again about discipleship, but we will now look at individual topics in greater depth and in concrete terms: Relationships, state, body, creation, church, words, work, own heart, possessions. Behind these terms are some very topical, explosive and controversial issues in the public arena. It will be really exciting!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following Jesus means that we also want to take Him as our role model in these questions. How did Jesus live? What did he teach? And then we want to \"Simply delicious<\/em>\" be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simple<\/strong>The word simple has a double meaning. On the one hand, it is the opposite of difficult and, on the other, of twofold (ambivalent, ambiguous, divided). God became man in the person of Jesus Christ and lived in this world for a good thirty years. In doing so, he showed us how life works. That is why discipleship is simple, even if it costs us everything - our whole life with all the trimmings. We want to live this discipleship with an undivided heart. Just as God demanded of Abraham: \"I am God Almighty. Live before my face and be blameless!<\/em>\" (Genesis 17:1). The Hebrew word translated here as blameless means whole, clear, undivided, unambiguous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mouthy<\/strong>Yes, it is also a question of courage whether we are prepared to follow Jesus with all the consequences. There are issues where we, as followers of Jesus, create friction in a liberal society. Going with the flow seems more comfortable. A follower of Jesus is a temple of the Holy Spirit who helps us to have a strong attitude: \"For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but a spirit of power, love and prudence<\/em>\" (2 Timothy 1:7).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So let us look at Jesus together as our role model in the new year and follow Him. Jesus says that the cost of doing so is high. But the cost of not following Him is much higher. Hans Joachim Eckstein: \"'Discipleship means self-denial' - No, discipleship means self-discovery! Because when I follow Christ, I find my real and true life with him.<\/em>\" The path to this self-discovery leads through self-denial (Matthew 16:24).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
