But the rabbit is not really much of a competitor when it comes to what is being commemorated. In many people's minds, Christmas is the most important Christian holiday. But I don't subscribe to this idea. For me, Easter is the more important holiday. Without Easter, Christmas would be nothing special. The resurrection on Easter Sunday makes Christmas what it is - the birth of the Saviour of the world, who overcame the world out of love for it.

But what happened at Easter? Probably the most prominent answer is the atoning death of Jesus. Jesus died at the time of the Passover. His death is associated with the death of the lamb, which is slaughtered at this time as a sign that man's debt has been paid. Jesus did the following with his death: "He carried our sins up to the cross in his own body so that we might be dead to sin and live for righteousness. Through his wounds you have been healed!" (1 Peter 2:24 NLB).

Another answer, what Jesus accomplished on the cross, was referred to in church history as "Christus Victor", which means "Christ the Victor" in German. Until recently, I was mainly familiar with the first view, but I am increasingly discovering this view. It is not a question of either or, but of both! "Christus Victor" is about Jesus' victory over the forces of evil, sin, death and the devil with his death. "In this way, God has disarmed the rulers and powers of this world. He has publicly exposed them by triumphing over them through Christ on the cross" (Colossians 2:15 NLB). Jesus Christ is the victor! He has accomplished everything. Everything that stands against God has been defeated by Jesus! Once and for all. And followers of Jesus can now go forward "EIFACH muetig" themselves. "For the children of God conquer this world; they conquer through faith in Christ" (1 John 5:4 NLB).

["post-10709","seetal_chile_poscht","type-seetal_chile_poscht","status-publish","hentry
["GET
