In March, our sermon series was entitled \"Body & Faith\". This included a sermon on a person's sexual identity and orientation. As this is a somewhat 'charged topic' among Christians, it was not surprising that there was a wide range of feedback. One person said that they felt a great love for the truth of God's word and a great love for people. This dual perspective can indeed seem somewhat paradoxical and create friction. Sometimes it is almost impossible to find a common denominator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the beginning of March, we attended the Viva Church Conference on Chrischona as the entire church leadership on the topic of \"Daily Spirit\". During a presentation by Stefan Vatter, I photographed the slide of a presentation (see picture below). The caption reads: The whole God - paradoxical duplicity - double perspective. <\/strong>The fascinating paradox means the unfathomable, the seemingly contradictory. God as a being is of course not paradoxical, but in our imagination we cannot imagine Him any other way. The reason for the existence of a church is to depict the essence of the whole God. This endeavour sometimes leads to apparent paradoxes. How can we love people to the maximum and still uphold the truth? There are two ways that are not expedient: A one-sided emphasis on one pole or a (human) harmonisation. It is promising if we do not make any concessions on either side, but emphasise them fully, even if it may seem like an irresolvable contradiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With this in mind, we at seetal chile want to honour the Bible as the words of the living God and at the same time try to love people who live other designs as much as possible.
