For us as seetal chile, the motto for 2022 is Creatio - Hope and responsibility<\/em>. We want to go on a journey together that will take us from the creation of the earth far into the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creatio is Latin and means creation. God's story with us humans begins with the story of creation. God creates the earth and everything on it. The last thing he puts on earth is human beings. They are his chosen ones to manage and enjoy God's marvellous creation. As humans, we therefore have a responsibility to utilise and preserve the earth in the best possible way. On the other hand, this task goes far beyond us. It seems too big for us to cope with. But as followers of Jesus, we have a hope. A hope that goes far beyond this world. Now we want to spend a whole year focussing on God's creation, our hope and our responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me personally, this whole topic has led to a huge inner tension. A tension between environmental protection, global warming, Fridays for Future and my life as a follower of Jesus Christ. A tension between activism to preserve this world for a future generation and doing nothing, because God is greater and is leading this world to its goal. A tension between preserving the world and introducing people to the gospel. It is this tension that I experience again and again as a Christian, because although I am in this world, I am not of this world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is about the fundamental tension between continuity and new creation. Isaiah 43:19 accompanies us in 2022 as a guiding verse \"Look; I am creating something new; it is already sprouting\"<\/em>. The new does not happen out of nothing, but comes out of what already exists. Central to this is the new creation or second creation in Jesus Christ. We do not have to wait for a new beginning in a future world to come. It has been accomplished in Jesus Christ. The new beginning begins in Golgotha and from there comes the hope that this crisis-ridden world so desperately needs. Although we begin the year with sermons on creation, the Creatio of God goes much further. It has to do with me and you personally. The theme for the year therefore takes us from Genesis to Revelation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
