As is so often the case in a culture of shame, none of the pupils wanted to say anything at first and expose themselves. Instead, they passed the question back to me. I was pleased to be able to make a brief statement that Isso Masseh is my role model and idol. I was even more pleased to be asked why he was my role model. It was nice to be given this short window to talk about HIM. For many students Jesus is not a household name, few know him simply as a prophet but have no idea who he was or what he did. I realised once again that although we live in a country full of hospitable and interested people with many needs, the greatest need is not knowing Immanuel, the God with us. It has motivated me again to make Jesus the subject of discussion as often as possible so that people come into contact with him and hopefully think about him.

In response to my statement, a pupil immediately countered that Muslims have Mohammed as their role model and not Jesus. The name Jesus causes offence and arouses resistance. This is the case here in Central Asia at the language school and among our neighbours, but also among you in Switzerland. Let us not be put off by this, but let us be loving signposts to him.

Jonas enjoys teaching at the language school and travelling with our employees. We currently employ around 10 local teachers and have 200 students who learn English, Russian or German with us. There are four of us teaching in our team. Through us foreigners, they all come into contact with Jesus from time to time and we very much hope that HE will change all their lives, both the students and the teachers. Thank you for making it possible for us to be here and for supporting us - we are very happy about that!

Best regards from you Burgers. PS: We are planning to come to Switzerland next summer and look forward to seeing you all again soon!

If you would like to subscribe to the Burger family newsletter, please contact Stefan and Sabrina Sager on 079 784 49 06.

["post-6075","seetal_chile_poscht","type-seetal_chile_poscht","status-publish","hentry
["GET
