Someone once said that the title of the Bible could be \"God's Shalom Project\". The stories in the Bible are primarily about how faithful and wholesome relationships between God, ourselves and our neighbours can succeed. \"Shalom?\" as a question and answer greeting shows that something is balanced, a relationship is just and there is peace. It is an expression of the good life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The original quality of the creation is Shalom<\/em> described very well. In the Garden of Eden, relationships were fair and balanced, there was peace and abundant life. But the fall of man destroyed all this in one fell swoop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Since that dark day, it has been a question of restoring the Shaloms<\/em> on all levels: with God, with myself, between the sexes, in creation, in broken families and between nations and races. This restoration of shalom is the theme of our worship services right now. Another terminology for this restoration is \"building God's kingdom\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n I am fascinated by the fact that God honours man with cooperation in this renewal. From the very beginning, man was given the task of cultivating and preserving the earth. This calling still rests on humanity and should come to the fore again at the latest when a person's shalom to God is restored. It is from this relationship that we draw strength and wisdom to take care of other broken relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Shalom<\/em> is closely linked to justice in the Bible. Psalm 85:11 reads: \"Then grace and truth meet, then justice and peace kiss each other (Shalom)<\/em>\" (NEW TESTAMENT). It is part of our responsibility in this world to work for justice. The big question is: What does this mean in concrete terms?<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Just People course aims to find answers to these questions.
