We are grateful to be able to write to you that we are doing well. The war in Ukraine is close to here, but we don't feel it directly yet, except when we fill up our car and see the diesel\/petrol prices. Food prices are set to rise sharply, so we grow as many vegetables as possible. It should not only serve us, but also those who will need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joel is in constant contact with Anton (who is hard of hearing and works in a church). Together with him and Ivan (deaf and lived with us last summer), Joel was able to visit deaf people in the north. They spent three days travelling together, visiting clubs and meeting places. They realised that alcohol is a big problem, even at 10 o'clock in the morning. They visited some people at home. This was very moving, as these people often live alone and are very isolated. One man particularly enjoyed talking to Joel. This is how important encounters take place. Who likes looking after lonely, sometimes neglected deaf pensioners? Tamara stayed at home with the children and prayed with them for this trip, and so the whole Hansen family was directly and indirectly active and felt that it was about the kingdom of God - and that this is always very much in dispute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My (Tamara) main task is still to be a support for my husband and a mother for our children. And then there are our neighbours, in the form of the only Roma family in our village. They have been visiting us a lot in the last few weeks, as their home is boring and very cramped. They are 9 people in 2 rooms. I have started playing UNO with the women. Then I had to keep an eye on Amos, Ilario, Erhan, Jasmin and Hassan so that things didn't get too wild. When they've gone, I'm always out of breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We want to do what God lays at our feet, whether that means making visits or opening the door for our neighbours. Joel has reduced the hours in the office, which gives us room to work. You are welcome to continue praying for us so that we can make even more contact with the deaf!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We will be travelling to Switzerland in June. We are already looking forward to seeing you there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
