I sit outside as it's warmer than inside. Apart from a \"test fire\" in our stove, we haven't needed an additional source of warmth thanks to the very warm autumn. We are all doing well. The kids are in kindergarten and preschool, and when they are home, they enjoy building projects around the house. By the time you read this article, I (Tamara) will have completed a training course and will be in the familiarisation period. This is because the company where Joel worked in customer service has now opened a branch here in our town. God has opened another door. And now we hope that we can share a job here in Stara Zagora. It is quite clear that we are not here in Bulgaria just to earn money through work. But it helps us to get to know the average Bulgarian. How are they doing in everyday life? Where do they have problems and challenges? We also have people on our minds who don't belong anywhere. Time with the Roma family from our village and further visits by Joel and Anton to the north and north-west of Bulgaria to meet deaf people there. Angel is still part of our family, even though he no longer lives with us. He often consults with us and we accompany him. Recently we met him in a park in the city. We were all really looking forward to seeing him and we all enjoyed chatting to him. Together we took refuge from a few raindrops under an eaves and ate sandwiches. Afterwards, the children played some more and we chatted a bit. Towards the end, he asked for money. Over the years, we have become tough and our answer was: \"No.\" Because we know that the money is quickly gone again and the demand for even more money comes. But Joel had an idea and he invited Angel to work with us for a day to earn the money he needed. Unfortunately, Angel didn't want to do this and wanted an easier way. We drove home with mixed feelings. Were we being too hard and ruthless? We did offer help, but not in the way he had imagined. Was there anything else we could have done for him? It was quiet for a while until he got in touch again. But he understood that we liked him despite everything. At the moment he is earning money by the day as a harvest labourer. We continue to pray for him, he needs Jesus. And, as always, we need wisdom on how we can be there for him. Even saying no is sometimes an act of love.
