This is a vital question for a church! I am therefore happy to provide information on the factors involved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We place each session under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The dates are also listed in the prayer calendar. We assume that many people are praying for us.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We regularly pray for the church leadership in our prayer meetings, e.g. in early morning prayer on Saturdays. We hope that there is a place for GL in many people's personal prayers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We only make a decision when we have reached a unanimous opinion as a seven-member committee.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We see ourselves as a force called to a task by God and the members, which is endowed with official authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We will never come before the congregation with the claim that our decisions are direct instructions from heaven. That would be manipulative and would disenfranchise the congregation. Our aim is for every follower of Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, to discover God's will for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now I want to turn the tables and ask how you can recognise God's will - for example in a controversial GM?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is worth listening carefully to the opinion of the leadership and testing it (Hebrews 13:17). As just mentioned, you have a head start in listening to God.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is also important to listen to the different opinions. Then it is important to find out where a Kingdom of God perspective lies. In order to find this out, it is helpful to go to a meta-level internally. From such an inner distance, you can filter out the character of a matter quite well. Can you hear the underlying tone of peace, joy, justice, generosity, etc.? Does an opinion lead into the distance, upwards?
