What does our life as followers of Issoi Masseh actually look like? We live as a family of six in a Muslim country in Central Asia. Jonas works in a language school as an English and German teacher and Judith has her hands full with homeschooling and family management. As I said, we live in a Muslim context, the people here are very religious and so it's nothing special to talk about your faith. However, it is special if you are not a Muslim but believe in Jesus the Messiah. We are convinced that Jesus is the best thing that can happen to a person and that is why we endeavour to make Jesus the topic of conversation whenever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This can look very different: for example, two months ago our host brother was struggling with a kidney stone. As we have often spoken to him about matters of faith, Jonas offered to pray for him in the name of Jesus. He was able to explain that Jesus healed many people during his time on earth and we believed that he is still doing it today. Unfortunately, the pain didn't go away immediately, but now he has no more complaints. Or when a woman somewhat embarrassedly mentioned to Judith that she had promptly forgotten a part of the ritual prayer, Judith was able to explain to her that we believe that God is not interested in perfect prayers, but in our heart attitude. It was a completely new thought for her that we can talk to God like a loving father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes a prayer or a spiritual comment leads to a good conversation in which we can point to Jesus, but sometimes the conversation simply continues as if nothing had happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But we pray and hope that our words will stick, that people will think about Jesus and that HE will touch them. Because it is this touch that fundamentally changes people's lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
