As I write these lines, my wife and I are waiting for our second child. Since I will be on paternity leave for a fortnight from the birth, I had to pay attention to planning a few things so that it would work out reasonably well. So I had the last sermon on 2 October Sunday and after that I would actually be ready for the birth of our son from a purely work-related point of view. But he is a long time coming. At the beginning I was glad that he didn't come at the beginning of October, but now I can hardly wait (I hope that he will be here by the time this seetal chile Poscht is published).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I would like to be able to plan and organise everything down to the last detail, so that everything goes well \"side by side\". But life is often different. In my life of faith, too, I often wish that it was much more plannable and predictable. I wish for quick results and waiting is often not what overwhelms me with enthusiasm. I wish I could just press a button and then the ordered result comes out immediately - but that is not the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I look at the Bible, I see that many people had to wait. Abraham and Sarah had to wait several decades before they finally received their son. The people of Israel were in exile in Egypt for a total of four hundred years. The Israelites waited several hundred years for their promised Redeemer - the Messiah - and when he finally came, many did not recognise him. For over two thousand years, followers of Jesus Christ have now been waiting for his second coming. We wish for quick results, but actually there is a lot of power in waiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
