glow Kids at the fire brigade

Our theme for the year is Heroes and Legends. Each afternoon is about a hero in the Bible. Last Saturday we even met modern heroes in the flesh. The glow Kids was allowed to visit the fire brigade of Seon-Egliswil!
Of course, all the kids were very excited, even the leaders were looking forward to it. After an outdoor hot dog snack, we finally went to the fire brigade magazine. Some of the children could hardly wait. There we were greeted by four firemen and divided into three groups. At one of the posts, the kids were allowed to climb up the high trailer ladder, which, by the way, is almost as high as the golden statue of King Nebuchadnezzar. A big highlight was the water spraying on the fire engine. At the third station, the kids learned how to use a fire extinguisher and how to extinguish a burning pan: not with water, but with a fire blanket. This is to be placed slowly over the fire - not thrown. Everyone mastered this task with flying colours, even though there was a lot of scepticism at the beginning as to whether it would work like that. Of course, we were also allowed to visit the magazine and get a lot of questions answered. After a snack break, we were given a fright with the horn! A little competition had been prepared for us. Divided into teams of two (in the fire brigade we call it a squad), the kids had to water pylons and extinguish a small house against each other. Of course, the leaders also had to prove whether they could do this. At the end, we had a big water fight with fire hoses, in which even the firemen joined in.
Fortunately, or rather: thank God, the weather was so great! So we were able to do the devotion despite wet clothes and listen to the exciting story of Daniel's three friends in the fiery furnace. How great and faithful our God is! We all had a lot of fun and are looking forward to the next event, the glow by night.
