How do you encounter God?

In keeping with our theme for the year: «Simple. Quiet. In the moment.» We would like to put together a box for our small groups – and, of course, for other groups too – containing a variety of ideas for encounters with God in silence. It is intended to help groups organise a day or weekend of silence together.

To do this, we rely on your ideas, experiences and tips: What helps you to feel close to God and to encounter him? Which forms of silence or spiritual exercises have worked well for you? Thank you very much for your support!

To hear God’s voice, feel his love and recognise his guidance, we need regular periods of time when we can find peace and consciously turn our focus towards God. In everyday life, however, this is often a challenge – it’s too noisy, too hectic, too busy.

It can therefore be helpful not to spend such times on your own, but to get away for a day or a weekend as a small group and seek God’s presence together – either individually or as a group. We have already done this three times with our small group in various ways and have had some very valuable experiences as a result.

To ensure that not every group has to reinvent the wheel, we would like to put together a box containing various approaches to encountering God in silence. It is intended to serve as a practical collection and a guide from which you, as a group, can choose what suits you best.

To ensure the box is as varied as possible, we’d love to hear your ideas and experiences. Please feel free to share your thoughts with us using this form, or get in touch directly with Chrege Burger or Andrea Werder.

As soon as the box is finished, we’ll share the details in another blog post.
