Dear friends of the seetal chile

I wish you a blessed new year. Christmas is over and the old year is coming to an end. Christmas was the crowning finale of the year - if it weren't for the tradition of the church years. The church years do not begin on the calendar date of 1 January, but four weeks before Christmas. The year begins with anticipation, the arrival of the Saviour of the world. Christmas is God's big yes to us humans. That's why I think it's wonderful that the church year begins with this and doesn't end with it.

For first comes God's yes to his creation, only then comes the rest. God first shows mercy to us, only then does the busyness follow - yes, admittedly, the Advent and Christmas season behind us is anything but a quiet and contemplative time. But if we return to the heart of the matter, it is about an encounter. Namely the encounter between God and his creation. In him, heaven and earth come together. In and through him, the motto for 2026 is fulfilled: «Behold, I make all things new!» (Revelation 21:5).

We want to encounter the God who speaks this in the new calendar year with our new annual theme. The whole year is characterised by the following words: «Be still and recognise that I am God!» (Psalm 46:11). Together we want to experience what it means to encounter God simply, quietly and in the present. Following Jesus begins - like the church year - with an encounter, with God's yes to me! We therefore want to learn anew what it means to live simply - not out of renunciation, but out of longing. We want to create space in our hearts, our everyday lives and also in our church so that we can hear God's voice, feel his love and recognise his guidance.

Do you long for God? We warmly invite you to join us on this journey. We want to consciously rediscover forms of faith that have been actively practised in church history - not as a ritual, not as a tradition, not as a compulsory exercise, but as important spaces for God to meet your heart and mine. For while our time has become louder and busier, God is still the same God who can be found if we seek him. Not in the noise, not in the hustle and bustle, not in the hectic pace. But in simplicity, in silence and in the moment! Are you with us?

Relationship work in the seetal chile

From 13 February to 27 March, there will be two parallel courses every Friday.

For the first time, we are organising a course on dealing with separation and divorce in cooperation with familylife. The love-fail-life course is by those affected for those affected. Everyone on the course team has experienced a divorce themselves. Here you will meet people who have experienced similar things and receive input on relevant topics for coping with and coming to terms with your situation. The course is very close to our hearts and we are delighted that we have been able to get Alwin Waldvogel from Campus für Christus and his team to organise it. The course takes place in the lounge in the youth centre. The evenings start at 6.45 pm with dinner together.

For the second year in a row, the Marriage course takes place. This course offers couples seven date nights to invest in their relationship in a romantic setting. Each event starts at 7.30 pm with a delicious dessert. Afterwards, exciting video presentations provide inspiration for everyday life and suggestions for dialogue as a couple. There are no group discussions and no one is asked to talk about personal matters with third parties.

Both courses are based on Christian values and show how diverse our church is and that we care about people in different life situations. You can find more information and registration on our blog.

Alliance events 2026

The cooperation between churches in the Seetal region of Aargau is important to us. That is why we regularly cultivate our neighbourly relations in January during the national week of prayer. This year, our cooperation consists of two events on the theme of «God is faithful»:

Thursday, 15 January at 7:30 p.m. (drinks reception from 7 p.m.)Prayer evening at the "Praise'n'Pray" of the Meisterschwanden-Fahrwangen Reformed Church. We meet in their parish hall.

Sunday, 18 January at 10:00 a.m. (followed by coffee in the church hall)All five member churches will celebrate a joint service with the gospel choir «Gospel on» in Seon Church. The sermon will be given by Jan Niemeier, pastor in Seengen.

Our finances

This financial chart inspires me. Although we have been slightly behind budget all year, we are now precisely on track after eleven months. That is simply marvellous!

Thank you so much for making this miracle possible and for your generosity. This cannot be taken for granted and is a great gift to the kingdom of God.

Information in a nutshell

The small Kinderhüeti is taking off with a new concept. This is particularly evident in the programme and content of the mornings. In this context, both Kinderhüetis are given a new name. In the glow Murmeli all children from 0-2½ years of age and in the glow Füchsli Everyone from 2½-year-olds to kindergarteners have a wonderful morning and can encounter God and their peers in an age-appropriate way.

There was a lively response to the call for leaders for the holiday fun in the weekly email and in the church service. The Ferienplausch 2026 from 14-17 April can definitely take place. Further support is still welcome.

The trip to Israel from 10 to 20 April 2026 will definitely take place. We would be delighted if other interested parties take advantage of the extended registration deadline until the end of January. The programme has been adapted to current events and can be viewed online. In this way, the central importance of the people of Israel for the history of salvation and world history is revealed in a special way. It is a very good time to visit Israel, to benefit greatly and to show our solidarity with the people.

The glow Next Team is currently taking a break and thinking intensively about the future. There will probably be another event in March. Information will be provided via our own channel.

Info about people

We are pleased that, after a «successful» objection period Simona & Tobias Spichtig, Luca Siegenthaler, David Walti, Samuel Altwegg and Joachim Walter as new members among us. We now have a total of 221 members.

On 4 December 2025 Amea Naomi Bürgin was born. We wholeheartedly rejoice with the parents Manuel and Jasmin about this great gift and wish the young family God's rich blessing - strength, wisdom and love for their journey together.

Esther Mettler & Hans Schaub end their collaboration with glow Füchsli. Christoph Müller has resigned from his commitments at the men's event and as team leader of the host livestream. Maria Märki leaves the Generation+ team. Andrea Gloor is ending her involvement in Sisterhood. André Häusermann had his derière in the music team. Thank you very much for your loyal commitment over a long period of time.

Sabina Schlatter is a new member of the cleaning team, Deborah Gautschi in the bistro, Bernadette Moro in the Sisterhood and Medina Iseini in the music team. We are very happy about your cooperation and welcome you warmly!

For the agenda

At 10 January at 14:00 the ecclesiastical Wedding of Sina Fuchs and Thiemo Schlatter in the church of Cazis.

At 14 February our annual Thanksgiving party will take place. The Visionary Management and the staff team cordially invite everyone of youth age and above to attend.

At 20 February at 20:00 and on 21 February at 18:00 the theatre group will be performing their new play «Min Wäg» at the seetal chile centre.

From 22-25 May we are the whole community in Bad Schussenried. The Community weekend to the topic "koinonia - Living faith together» offers excellent opportunities to come into relationship with each other and with God.
