I read the following post on social media:

He raised three children – all three went on to become millionaires. When asked «how», he cited a single habit that he had forbidden them from practising from an early age:

The man never spoke of money, wealth or career plans. He simply said: ‘Success doesn’t begin with what you do – but with what you stop doing.’ And there was one thing that had no place in his home.

He did not forbid his children from being lazy, making mistakes or having dreams. He forbade mindless consumption without thinking for oneself. No aimless television-watching, no endless bombardment of information, no constant distractions. Not out of strictness, but out of conviction.

His reasoning was simple: if you do nothing but consume, you train your brain to remain passive. Ideas do not arise from noise, but from stillness. Children who are never allowed to experience boredom do not learn to find solutions for themselves.

Instead, he left room. For silence. For one’s own questions. For the realisation that «I don’t know what to do right now». That was exactly where the thinking began. That was exactly where initiative arose.

The key point is not that they went on to become millionaires, but that all three learnt not to immediately seek out external distractions when things got uncomfortable. This ability is what later determines their focus, perseverance – and often their financial success as well.

So the real question is not: «What should we teach children?», but rather: «What should we protect them from?»

That is essentially the embodiment of our theme for the year – only without the most important part: Jesus. If simplicity and silence alone can have such an effect, how much more can happen when we use them to create space for God’s presence! Christ’s work within us through the Holy Spirit is described in the New Testament as divine power – the Greek word dynamis. Jesus transforms people from the inside out and pushes boundaries.

In a noisy and crowded world, we want to rediscover what it means to live simply, driven by a longing for more of God. We are making space: in our hearts, in our daily lives and in our church. Space for God’s voice to be heard, his love to be felt and his guidance to be recognised.

The focus here is not on financial success, but on a life of abundance – characterised by the certainty that we are God’s beloved children.

Making space – two church services

It is with great gratitude that we have seen our services attracting more and more people in recent years. We are delighted about this! At the same time, we are increasingly noticing that our hall is regularly almost full and that the bistro area is also reaching its limits.

As church leaders, we are therefore concerned with the question of how we can continue to create an open and welcoming space – for people who are already part of our congregation, as well as for guests and new visitors.

We have been praying about this development for some time and have discussed it carefully amongst ourselves. In doing so, we have come to the conclusion that holding two services on Sunday mornings could be a positive and forward-looking option.

We would therefore like to run a pilot scheme from the autumn half-term of 2026 until the spring half-term of 2027, with two services (at 9.00 am and 10.45 am). We will then evaluate this period together and review our experiences. During school holidays, on public holidays or for evening services, there will continue to be only one morning service.

We are currently drawing up a detailed plan for this step, which we will first discuss with the teams and staff involved. We will then provide the whole congregation with more detailed information about the planned implementation. We are aware that change can provoke a variety of reactions. We are therefore all the more grateful to everyone who is supporting this courageous step with goodwill and sustaining it in prayer. It is our hope that our congregation will continue to be a place where people can encounter God and feel warmly welcomed.

glow Camp and Autumn Camp

This year, children and teenagers can look forward to two exceptionally appealing camps!

During the summer holidays, the motto for children in Years 2 to 6 is: «Let’s go!» Together, we’ll spend an exciting week at camp, discovering faraway lands, immersing ourselves in different cultures and enjoying plenty of adventure, games and camaraderie. Of course, there’ll be plenty of Bible stories, campfire moments and unforgettable experiences too.

There’s also a special highlight for young people: the popular autumn camp will take us to Spain from 25 September to 4 October 2026! Young people aged 16 and over can look forward to a brilliant time filled with fellowship, spiritual insights, action, sunshine and lots of unforgettable moments.

As always, you’ll find all further information and details on how to register on our blog. We look forward to welcoming lots of participants and to action-packed camps full of new encounters and experiences!

Meanwhile, seasonal expenditure has aligned somewhat more closely with income since the start of the year. We are right on track! Behind these impressive figures are many generous people who support us. A thousand thanks for your contribution to this encouraging financial situation, which also encourages and empowers our entire team of staff in their work.

Information in a nutshell

We are very grateful and delighted that our appeal for considerate parking behaviour is bearing fruit. It is important to us that we do not have to organise a parking service for our church services. For this to work, we rely on people acting responsibly, as we are currently demonstrating.

Manuela Lüthy and Matthias Steiger They are to tie the knot on 13 June at an intimate ceremony in Heidegg. We wish them both God’s rich blessings for their life together.

We are pleased that, after a «successful» objection period Matthias and Désirée Geissmann to welcome as new members amongst us!

The requirements for membership are as follows: having reached the age of religious maturity (16 years), an active relationship with Jesus Christ, a wholehearted acceptance of an imperfect church, and participation in parish meetings. Anyone who can say ‘yes’ to these points is invited to take this step towards a deeper commitment.

Theresa Dück She will be stepping down as co-leader of the Sisterhood team at the end of June. She and her husband Viktor are moving back to Germany. Many thanks for your valuable contribution, and we wish you all the best as you settle into your new-old home.

On 18 June shall we meet up? at 2.30 pm to a Generation+ Afternoon On the topic of «Order your home – reconciled relationships». Beat Brugger (bruggerimpulse.ch) is our guest speaker. You are warmly invited to this event, which will be followed by afternoon tea.

At 21 June 2026 at 1.00 pm we will carry out the next Baptism in the Aabach If you want to live a life connected to Jesus and haven’t been baptised yet, this would be a brilliant opportunity. You can register on our blog before 11 June.

The sermons focused on community, which means involvement rather than mere attendance. This was brought home to us very clearly.

At 30 October 2026 we are introducing this for the first time in the history of seetal chile Repair Café through. It would be great if you could add this date to your diary – not just if you have something that’s broken!

From 10 to 20 April 2027 we are making another attempt to Trip to Israel. If all good things come in threes, we’ll actually be in Israel – and we’d love to have you with us!
