Corona has laid a foundation for us to talk a little more openly about mental illness. Nevertheless, there is still a big taboo in this area, the number of unreported cases is estimated to be very high. Even before Corona, the most common mental illness was depression. In the current situation, the number of people suffering from depression in Switzerland has even increased sixfold. Thinking, feelings, the body, social relationships, even the whole life are affected. This causes great suffering and loss of quality of life for those affected and their relatives.

Reasons enough for us as a church to contribute to de-tabooing mental illness. You can join us on Friday 26 March at 20:00 at live.seetal-chile.ch be there when I talk to a professional and affected person on the subject of depression.

Sina Leimgruber was trapped in depression for years and tells her story in this setting. In doing so, she wants to encourage other sufferers to seek help sooner than she did.

Ursula Wälty-Gautschi, MD, specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy FMH, talks about her experiences as a specialist and gives useful tips on how relatives can also deal with such a situation.

During the discussion round, you can actively post your questions (also anonymously) in the chat. After the chat, Sina and Ursula will be available to answer your questions and give you suggestions.
