Baptism on 12 June 2022

Sunday, 12. June 2022 | 13:00 h
On 12 June 2022 we will again baptise in open water. Two people have already registered. If you want to live your life in faith in Jesus Christ and have not yet experienced faith baptism, you are cordially invited to be baptised as well.
The registration of two children for baptism gave us the occasion to fundamentally rethink our baptismal practice. Our preferred way is to teach young people about baptism in lifegroups and to warmly recommend it to those who have entrusted their lives to Jesus from the age of 16 (religious maturity). At the same time, we are convinced that children's faith is whole faith. This leads us to conclude that infant baptism should also be a viable option. Our baptisms are baptisms of faith and not explicitly adult baptisms.
For baptisms before the age of 16 (religious maturity) we have defined the following requirements:
- The baptised person should express the wish for baptism independently and also articulate it to third parties (outside the family). This condition excludes infant baptism.
- The conscious, independent decision for a life with Jesus is to emerge in a conscious following of Jesus.
- The person to be baptised should introduce him/herself at the baptism and explain his/her decision for baptism so that the congregation can understand.
- The baptised person should be aware that a baptism of faith as a child cannot be repeated in adulthood.
