When faith costs everything

An evening about persecuted Christians, courageous faith and hope in Jesus.

What does it mean to follow Jesus when one’s own faith becomes a source of danger? When one’s family, clan or social circle do not accept one’s decision to follow Christ?

Marianne and Ernst Leuenberger During their many years of work in Africa, they have met people who have chosen to follow Jesus – and at the same time witnessed the severity with which young Christians are persecuted for their faith. Often, the opposition comes from those closest to them.

For 13 years, the Leuenbergers lived and worked in Mali with ReachAcross amongst a Muslim ethnic group. They immersed themselves deeply in the language and culture and were able to witness people opening their hearts to the good news of Jesus. In January 2026, they were no longer able to return to their mission field for security reasons.

On this evening, they will share their experiences and offer an insight into the lives and faith of persecuted Christians. It is an evening that brings home to us the reality of the persecution of Christians, whilst at the same time raising the question: What does it mean for us to follow Jesus?
