seetal chile Post 11/2025

All the news at a glance.

Dear friends of the seetal chile

by Cédric Brügger

In my office, there is a Bible verse that has become increasingly important to me recently. It has become my reminder, my guide, my signpost and also my daily prayer. I love being a pastor because many of my activities involve creative processes. In particular, every sermon is the result of a lengthy creative process, which is not always easy. Many ideas rush through my mind. I read a lot about it, let myself be inspired and pray again and again. It is often not easy to know which inner impulse I should follow and which I should not pursue.

This verse did not come into my life by chance, but rather when I was intensively engaged with the sermon series «Work & Faith». This verse became important to me, helping me to ground myself and providing me with guidance.

The Bible verse in question reads as follows: «See if I am in danger of being unfaithful to you, and if so, bring me back to the path you have shown us forever!» (Psalm 139:24 HFA). As I said, this verse is also part of my daily prayer. I pray along with the verse: Where am I currently in danger of being unfaithful to you, God? What has become too important to me? Where am I also in danger of something becoming too big in my life?

How about you? Have our sermon series this year shown you your danger zone? Where are you in danger of becoming unfaithful to God? But after becoming aware, my earnest prayer follows: Bring me back to the path... I ask God for forgiveness if necessary – but above all, I ask that I may once again walk the path He has laid out for me: a life of freedom, joy, peace, serenity and much more. I want to be constantly aware of my personal responsibility: «See if I am in danger of being unfaithful to you.»

This This month, we begin our final sermon series, «Possessions & Faith.» Together, we want to set out on a journey to discover what following Jesus has to do with our possessions – and Psalm 139:24 is a good guide for us in this endeavour.

Silas Burgherr – the new music director

My name is Silas Burgherr and I live with my wife Noëlle (née Schneider) in the beautiful old town of Lenzburg. I grew up with my five siblings in Reitnau. I am a trained carpenter and have been working at the Doppelpunkt carpentry workshop in Kölliken for almost three years. Noëlle and I got married in May 2025, and since then I have been an official member of seetal chile.

Music has been an important and significant part of my life for many years. I grew up with instruments and worship music, and for ten years I actively played in various ensembles and bands at my previous church. Worship and music became a passion for me, and I increasingly recognised the importance of worship in our church.

A year ago, I completed the nine-month Acts discipleship and leadership school in Thun, focusing on worship and prayer. There I learned a lot about organisational and spiritual leadership in churches. Around the same time, I started a youth band with secondary school students in the Reitnau regional church to share my joy of music with them and to encourage young musicians in our church.

I am very pleased that I will be able to take on various tasks in the area of music starting in January, and I am excited about the opportunities, but also the challenges, that music and worship can bring to a church.

I see great potential in our shared faith and desire to serve and worship our God, but also in the talented and motivated musicians and technicians and the material resources of seetal chile.

I look forward to working with you all, to open exchange and to praising God together!

Our finances

by Christoph Leimgruber

Last month, we received a very generous single donation – and lo and behold: our income now exceeds our expenses. We are delighted about this – hallelujah and a heartfelt thank you! We are equally grateful to all our loyal supporters who regularly send us donations. We would also like to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to them!

Martin von Schoultz, Kurdistan

The Kurdish summer. Several months from June to September, with maximum temperatures of up to 46 °C, and no rain for five months. The Kurdish media reported that it was the driest summer in 90 years. The best time for a children's week! At least that's what I (Tinu) thought, and so did my team. Until now, we had never attempted a project of this size, and the Kurds had never experienced anything like it either. But to open new doors, you have to dare to try new things.

So we set up tables, chairs and tents on a nearby sports field and gathered a group of over 70 children (girls and boys separately, of course). For a week, we got together every day to do crafts, play games and tell stories. The joy was immense – not only because the children had something to do during their summer holidays, but also because adults were looking after them. (A rather rare sight here.)

When the sun was low in the sky, we sent the gang home to fetch their parents and neighbours for dinner. To our surprise, the parents actually came. More and more arrived every day, until we were finally cooking for over 180 people. A kind of neighbourhood party, you might say, which people still talk about today.

However, my personal highlight was seeing how our local helpers experienced Children's Week. Every day, we prayed with them in the name of Jesus and explained the values of our story to them in more detail. They told us that there was a palpable sense of peace in our group. They said that working together had been so great that they would have loved to work with us every day.

Pray with us that your hunger will continue to grow and that doors will continue to open in our poor neighbourhoods.

Warm regards, Tinu
