Adventure in the bivouac

One of the first questions asked of me as the new glow Kids leader was: "Steffi can you do pioneering? Yes, I can ? So we decided to have a leaders' weekend to get to know each other better and to refresh our bivouac knowledge. So on Pentecost Sunday we all packed our big backpacks and wanted to start hiking after the service. But then, oh dear, it was raining! But as we had just heard in the sermon, sometimes it takes patience. So we went into the mat room and packed up our tarpaulins. When we came back into the daylight, lo and behold, the sun was shining beautifully. So we set off in a good mood, heavily packed.
The hike to Liebegg Castle via Trostburg to Retterswil was wonderful. Towards the end, however, we were glad to be at our destination. In no time at all we had set up our bivouacs and the fireplace was ready. We comfortably cooked our food and, of course, grilled heaps of s'mores. Campfire songs were not to be missed either.
During the night it was very cold, so some slept by the fire, some not really and others absolutely great. But for breakfast we had delicious stick bread. Taking down the tents and cleaning up was done in no time and by then we were all dog-tired at the seetal chile cleaning the canvas.
Next year we would like to have a Pfila in the tent with the children. Therefore, dear parents, please reserve Pentecost 2022 so that many children can come along. We are looking forward to it!
