Put down roots

Andreina and I have been at seetal chile for just over two months now. I am often asked whether we have settled in well. Since I live in the Seetal with my wife, I can say for me personally according to Matthew 6:21: Yes, because "where my treasure is, there will my heart be also.

I spent my whole life in the canton of Bern until recently. Although I lived in Basel for three years as a weekly resident, my roots were in the beautiful Aare valley in Bern. When it became clear to us that we wanted to start our marriage together in a new place, we had to uproot our roots in Schaffhausen and Bern - in order to replant them here in the Seetal.

In the process, we had to discover many things anew. Which hairdresser cuts hair best? Where do we go shopping? Which Beck bakes the most delicious rolls? Where is a good place to go for a walk? What tasks do we perform in the seetal chile?

So it was about putting down our roots in the lake valley. The most important thing for this to happen was the openness of other people. Even as Chile, new people join us all the time. In order for them to find a home in seetal chile and to establish their roots, we need the openness of those who are already here. It takes openness to reach out to new people and help them to put down roots in seetal chile.

Andreina and I were very grateful for all the people who have given us a place in their lives so far. I wish that this openness could also happen to many others. What about you? Are you ready to approach new people so that they can settle in at seetal chile? How about taking the first three minutes of each event at seetal chile to talk to someone you've never spoken to before?
