Dear friends of the seetal chile

Last month I celebrated my 60th birthday. A number that can be unsettling. On the one hand, you hear people of this age say: «I don't feel sixty at all!» On the other hand, many sentences start with: «When I retire, then ...» Obviously, people at this age like to live either in the past or in the future - but less so in the present. I have made a conscious decision to avoid both attitudes and instead, in keeping with our theme for the year, to live in the present.
But how do we live in the present? How can God be recognised today? Israel learns something crucial in the desert: God is a God of today. The manna is enough for one day - not for tomorrow, not for next week. «Give us today our daily bread.» Living in the present does not mean not planning for the future, but trusting God in the present.
We tend to live either in yesterday - in guilt, failure or nostalgia - or in tomorrow, characterised by worry, fear and the need for control. The desert brings us into the now. Because God is present in the now.
The Greek language recognises two terms for time: chronos and kairos. Chronos refers to measurable, continuous, quantitative time. Kairos refers to the qualitative, significant moment. Chronos is the time in which something happens. Kairos is the time when something decisive happens. Chronos describes a process, kairos an opportunity.
If we don't want to miss the important moments in life - and God's words - we have to live in the present. St Paul warns: «So be careful how you live! Do not behave like foolish people, but behave wisely. Make the best possible use of your time (kairos), precisely because we are living in difficult times» (Ephesians 5:15f New Testament).
We make the best use of our time by creating our own desert in the midst of chaos: a place where we can retreat daily, shed our constraints and dwell in the gentle, healing presence of our Lord.
We want to create space - in our hearts, in our everyday lives, in our church - so that God's voice can be heard, his love can be felt and his guidance remains recognisable.

Theatre performances

Since August 2025, our theatre group, which currently consists of 9 members, has been busy rehearsing the dialect play from the pens of Theater+ and Katharina Humbel. The story is a modern version of a parable of Jesus Christ. Perhaps you recognise yourself in it? On 20 and 21 February 2026, the time has finally come and the new play will celebrate its premiere at the seetal chile centre. On Friday, 20 February 2026, at 20:00 and Saturday, 21 February 2026, at 18:00, you are cordially invited to attend the play.

The bistro will be open after the performances. On Saturdays, hot snacks from the theatre kitchen will also be served.

Thanksgiving 2026

The seetal chile lives from your commitment - be it in prayer, in financing, in cooperation or simply in your benevolent participation. Decisive things happen in secret. At the thank-you party on 14 February, we as the church leadership want to make the hidden visible, thank you warmly, rejoice in what has happened and treat you to a dinner (with special offers for vegans and vegetarians) as well as a cheerful conversation.

Sometimes we hear sentences like: "I don't work in any team" or "I haven't done anything". We want to counter these voices by saying that really every man and woman from glow Youth age is invited. The event starts at 6 pm. We will finish at 10 p.m. at the latest.

We would be grateful if you could register by 13 February so that we can prepare the dinner and the room properly.

Our finances

Last year, we were able to record CHF 687,655.91 in donations and gifts! An incredible figure and a huge blessing. My words are not enough to express my gratitude for these donations! God bless all those who helped in small or large ways.

We will approve the accounts at the municipal meeting on 26 February.

Great news: You can now find all seetal chile sermons again on Apple Podcasts and Spotify! If you drive a lot, clean your flat, sit on public transport or want to listen to something while cooking: Listen to the last sermon!

In our Church services in the evening people from our midst share personal stories from their lives. These testimonies are always impressive, captivating, faith-strengthening and God-honouring - and should not be missed by anyone. As there is almost always an audio recording of these contributions, even those who were unable to attend have the opportunity to listen to the personal stories afterwards. If you are interested, please contact the office or the person who opened their heart directly.

Info about people

Andreas Hardmeier was released from his suffering on 9 January 2026 and was allowed to move to his heavenly home. We wish the whole mourning family God's comfort and peace!

Jörg & Susanne Leimgruber were members of an ETG (Evangelical Baptist Church) for over 60 years. Through their transfer to seetal chile, we were also able to transfer their membership here. A warm welcome!

Charly & Rahel Beck are applying for membership of seetal chile. We are delighted about this and are therefore opening the 14-day period during which existing members can raise objections.

For the agenda

At 14 February our annual Thanksgiving party will take place. The Visionary Management and the team of employees cordially invite everyone of youth age and older to attend.

At 19 February at 14:30 is a Generation+ Occasion is on the programme. We attend the main rehearsal of our theatre group and then enjoy a delicious snack and dessert. 

At 20 February at 20:00 and on 21 February at 18:00 the theatre group will be performing their new play «Min Wäg» at the seetal chile centre.

At 26 February at 20:00 finds our next AGM with the welcoming of new members, the celebration of anniversaries, the 2025 accounts, the appropriation of profits, the re-election of people from the community leadership, the election of a delegate and important information. Non-members are also very welcome!

At 11 March at 19:30 another regional impulse evening in the Lenzokirche Lenzburg. In keeping with the motto of the year («God says: I am creating a new heaven and a new earth.») we will deal with topics of the future. Our speaker will be Dr Stefan Wenger.

From 23-25 May we are the whole community in Bad Schussenried. The Community weekend to the topic "koinonia - living (experiencing) faith together» offers excellent opportunities to come into relationship with each other and with God. Registration is now open via the blog.

From 30 August until 5 September 2026 Together with the tour operator Surprise and two of our Viva Kirchen neighbours (Beinwil am See and Reinach), we are organising a Attractive 60+ holiday week in beautiful Tyrol through. You can find all the information you need on our blog!
